My Soul Mate
Prologue
It is said we only have one soul mate in life and when you meet that person, you know beyond a shadow of a doubt. I asked my self what is a soul mate and according to studies that have been done and Dr. Phil this is was a soul mate is. It is said that soul mates are two people who complement each other. He or she will be your opposite in many ways but they will also be the same ways that will allow you to find balance. Soul mates, over time, learn to trust one another but sharing their feelings no matter how big or small.
Sometimes soul mates come together in instant passion but trust and believe this passion will never fade. The days, months, and years will pass with this passion will never fade. Every time you look at your soul mate you will see in them what you saw the first time you met. Your soul mate should make you feel that common connection that nobody else can or will ever understand. The two of you will share special thoughts that sometimes never have to be spoken but each understands.
When you find your soul mate their will be an instant connection between the two of you. You will feel at ease with this person, there will be a look or touch that is so small yet so powerful. Change is the natural order of live, Oleta Adams says it best when she sings everything must change, nothing stays the same. Everyone will change, nothing and no one stays the same. The young become the old and memories do unfold because that’s the way of time. No one goes unchanged.
As time goes on true soul mates will change together and their change will not hinder but enhance and support each other. Your soul mate will accentuate your best and most pure qualities. You see being with your soul mate will make you want to love more and love better. Your soul mate will make you love unconditionally, which is something many people have a hard time doing. Your soul mate will make you want to be a better person every day that God allows you to wake up and see another day.
By definition, a soul mate is defined as someone for whom you have a deep affinity. According to Wikipedia, soul mate is a term sometimes used to designate someone with whom one has a feeling of deep and natural affinity, love, intimacy, and sexuality, spirituality, and/or compatibility.
A related concept is that of the twin flame or twin soul- which is thought to be the ultimate soul mate, the one and only other half of one’s soul, for which all souls are driven to find and join. However, not everyone who used these terms intends them to carry such mystical connotations.
In Plato’s Symposium, we learn that humans originally consisted of four arms, for legs, and a single head made of two faces, but Zeus feared their power and split them all in half, condemning them to spend their lives searching for the other half to complete them. Fast forward to the present, some people believe that soul mates are literally made and/or fated to be the mates of each other, or to play certain other important roles in each other’s lives.
Other theories suggest that God created androgynous souls, equally male and female. Later is was said that the souls split into separate genders, perhaps because they incurred Karma while playing around on the Earth, or separation from God. Through countless reincarnations, each half seeks the other. When all karmic debt is purged, the two will fuse back together and return to the ultimate.
